In my career I've been fortunate enough to work for some of the world's best digital and integrated marketing agencies such as AKQA and VCCP, and industry leading brands such as Xbox and O2. I have written articles for publications such as Campaign and Marketing Magazine, and have spoken at events such as Media 360 and the Revolution Forum. Before getting into the business management and client servicing side of things I was a coder, a designer and a project manager. And before that I was a professional DJ and musician based in Manchester (or Madchester as it was called then). I've always liked to create rather than talk about creating.
These career experiences have hopefully prepared me well, but jumping from the comfort of a good salary was still a very scary idea and it took a number of years before I finally plucked up the courage to hand in my notice and venture into unknown territory. Why did I do it? Because I truly believe there is so much more to life that sitting in an office for 40 or more hours each week. The balance has tipped too far and it's time to reclaim our most precious resource, our time, and start using it to reach our full potential as well rounded human beings.
This blog is here to track my own journey. I'm hoping to share the highs and the lows, pass on a few tips and maybe even inspire you to try giving the Life to the Maximum approach out yourself.
